What is Log a Load for Kids?

Log a Load for Kids started in South Carolina in 1988, when two land owners donated the value of a load of their timber to the local children’s hospital. Our first event in Arkansas was in 1993. We raised $6,000 at our local chapter’s event.

I was first invited to tour Arkansas Children’s Hospital when I was 24. I had no kids of my own. I remember seeing the smiles on the children’s faces and the concerned looks on their parent’s faces. Talking to the nurses, and realizing that some kids had no family visitors, broke my heart. I often tell people if they think they’re having a bad day, they should go up to ACH and see what those kids and parents go through. That day I decided I would do everything in my power to make Log a Load a huge success!

We recently celebrated our 26th anniversary of Log a Load in our state. We’ve gone from one chapter to five chapters and raised over $10,000,000! Central Arkansas Log a Load has 2 annual events, a golf tournament and a dinner with auctions.

The forestry community never ceases to amaze me with their generosity. I am proud to be a volunteer and supporter of Log a Load for Kids and Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
